The system gives crystal clear
sound, even at high speed on the fairing-free GSR and the rider-to-pillion
voice activated system really works.Start speaking and the music mutes: stop
speaking and the music fades in again.

The usual tests on the open road
produced crisp clean audio at all speeds. On a 2,000 mile road trip, the
Starcom1 Advance deftly shuffled between lengthy rider-to-rider radio
conversations, pre-recorded music, or the occasional incoming cell phone
call...

It was great to meet you last week at the MCN bike show. As I mentioned,
our website
www.moscowatoz.co.uk has all the best photos... In terms of comments
on the kit, we thought it was great. 4000 miles in 6½ days would have been
a nightmare if we’d not been able to chat or listen to our
IPODs. ... I even conducted a radio
interview back with the UK whilst on the move between Latvia and Moscow –
using the Bluetooth connection for the mobile. Fab!

The StarCom
1 is the latest in a long line of intercoms that have landed on my desk and have
promised the earth. You know the sort of thing. Easy to use, crystal clear
communications, simple to install, blah, blah, blah. But you know – this one
worked. The real beauty is its versatility. As standard, the StarCom 1 can
be used as a rider to pillion, rider to rider or for solo rider use. You just
buy additional headsets and connectors when you need them to add a mobile phone
or radio. Plus you can connect it to a satellite navigation or radar detection
system.
I tested the StarCom 1 on two
different bikes – an unfaired 800cc V-twin cruiser and a 750cc sports bike with
an exhaust to rival a MotoGP bike. And it worked perfectly on both, even at
speeds I shouldn’t have been doing. Unlike every other system I’ve tried,
the VOX system actually worked, meaning I didn’t have to wire up a push-to-talk
switch, plus I could cruise to the relaxing sounds of Chopin or race to the Red
Hot Chilli Peppers thanks to the stereo music input.

There
are plenty of bike communication
systems out in the shops these days but
there are also plenty of useless systems
out there too. The StarCom1 however
is in a league of its own, setting the
standard for all bike inter-com companies, as
this product is simply fantastic and really
does work even at ludicrous speeds.
The system provides such a clarity of sound
it is quite easy to imagine that you are not
hurtling down the road on a noisy bike at all.
The tiny speakers are great when listening to
music and pillion moans of “Slow down”
were also very crisp
indeed and also
extremely amusing.

“I used a
Mini Disc as an audio source with the unit and the sound was almost HiFi CD
quality. Given the small size of the speakers , this was an excellent
achievement. Speech was always clear and crisp no matter how illegal the
speed, “

Well I removed the Autocom (Active Rider) from the GS this week and
replaced it with a Starcom1. I did this as the Autocom had developed a
dodgy connection on the rider headset and needed sending back for repair.
As I needed a system whilst its away I bought the Starcom, this gave me a
good chance to do some back to back testing.
Both Units provide Rider - Pillion intercom and allow for the integration
of a multitude of ancillaries, I have used them both with; IPAQ for
GPS/Music, Nokia mobile phone, and Alan446 PMR.
Personal Conclusion
The Starcom1 gets my vote and I think it will for all who mainly ride
alone. The system has superb clarity and is especially good at handling
high speed phone calls (I used to get asked if I was outside/walking when
using the Autocom and phone, to date no one has asked with the Starcom).

What our customers say!
Hi Tony
Just to add my thanks also for the comms kit. This was my first
experience of using an intercom and I have to say I was very
impressed. Having spent the last 20 years riding without comms I’ve
always written it off as a bit of an unnecessary gadget, but its value
on a long ride is now beyond doubt in my mind!

Hi Tony
Hope that you are well
Just wanted to give you feedback on the
system that you kindly loaned us for evaluation. Unfortunately, we have
not had chance or opportunity to use it until last weekend at Brands
Hatch. It is everything that you said it would be. Communications
between driver and passenger (me) were crystal clear. There was a very
slight “blurring” on the start / finish straight but we were doing about
130 at the time and also, I had only slipped the ear piece into my
helmet. Driver feedback was also excellent and crystal clear all around
the rest of the laps. Mounting and feed was very straightforward and we
have the 2 connectors very neatly located by the side of the seats with
a simple plug in when required. We will now start evaluating the other
accessories. Already spreading the word to customers.

Hi
Tony / Tracy
I just want to drop a few lines to thank you very much for your support and
excellent after sales. Your product is working just great actually more than I
have expected, I have connected the mobile phone, MP3 and GPS all worked
great, Music sound was crystal clear up to 180kmh telephone up to 140kmh,
intercom up to 180kmh using a Caberg trip modular helmet. The setup I have it
on now is eliminate the MP3 player and get it with FM radio direct from the
phone, that way, I didn’t have to put it on auto answer and I get the music to
cutoff when I receive a call. Your company in fact is successful due to the
great sales, swift replies, shipping and great attention and interest you give
your customers that is besides the wonderful product you supply. Me being a
custom bike builder and accessories shop, I have dealt with a lot and various
suppliers in the UK and US, dealing with you guys was a wonderful experience
that I will never forget and definitely recommend. I will not talk about your
competition Systems, because I have not tried them all, but I sure did deal
with all of them for getting information, systems or inquiries, STARCOM1 team
and product sure did ACE them ALL. Keep up the good work guys and thanks
again.

I've been using my Starcom1 Advance for about a year & 20,000 miles, so now I
can give a report. I've used it in temps ranging from low teens to triple digits
& in all weather conditions. It's done several Iron Butt rides where it's been
on for over 24 hrs at a time & it hasn't skipped a beat. I run am MP3 & sat
radio thru it & the sound quality is excellent. My wife & I need different mic
sensitivities & sound volume levels, so the wide range of adjustments is nice. I
can't believe I spent all those years singing to myself on long rides & trying
to hear my wife yelling at me from the pillion.
Good product. Thanks Lynn

Just to say a big thank
you, for the help and advice over the past twelve months, I have my own
training school based in Corby and purchased your starcom system 12 months
ago, initially I had some teething problems ( my fault ) just from not
setting it up correctly, on the times I have come down to your offices to
seek advice I have received the most friendly professional service I could
ask for, without your help I would still be struggling to talk to my
students, and they would still be complaining of the poor quality of the
radios. But with starcom i can deliver a professional strong clear
instruction to my students , I would certainly recommend your company to any
training school, and once again thank you for your service

Dear StarCom1
We have just completed a
week-long run riding around the perimeter of Southern Ireland on a fleet of
Monkey Bikes in aid of CANCER RESEARCH UK and THE IRISH CANCER SOCIETY. I’m
pleased to report that the StarCom1 units fitted to our Lead Rider and ‘Rear
Gunner’ bike worked faultlessly, and were also easy to install and
configure. The Lead Rider had a Tom Tom SatNav unit hooked up via a StarCom1
Bluetoothtm unit, plus a radio link to the rear rider and Support van, as well
as a mobile phone link – all routed through STARCOM, all of which was used at
some point, and worked very well.Due to poor weather, traffic conditions, plus
the occasional mechanical breakdown etc., we did sometimes find our group became
fragmented. Having reliable communications made it possible to ask the head of
the pack to wait for the slower riders, or to call for help when someone
spluttered to a halt. All in all, a great success, and equipment we’ll be making
repeated use of in future.
Many thanks, Nigel Cox Organiser

Raining in all four compass points
" Dom wanted to call in to the Starcom intercom people in St
Ives, near Cambridge, as he couldn't get a bit of his newly purchased system to
work, so we rode there, found a B&B and went out for a curry to cheer ourselves
up. More than 400 miles done that day, on top of 360 or so the day before.
To end on a positive note, the Starcom people are ace. They came out in the rain
and fiddled and twiddled, took bits in for testing and replaced anything that
wasn't up to scratch (did a bit to my 18-month old system too). Really nice
company that loves bikers. Highly recommended. "

Just wanted to take a minute and compliment you on your StarCom intercom
system. I've been using it now for a year, giving it the "time will
tell" test. It has performed flawlessly since day 1 ! It works as good
today as the first day I installed it.
I ride a 2005 Ural Gear Up with a sidecar and the ability to talk to my
wife without yelling is priceless ! The Bluetooth module was an upgrade
I recommed to ALL users who must remain in touch by phone. The MP3
player input works perfect, the sound clairty is amazing, although
drivers behind me must wonder why my head is rocking while driving !!
They have no idea that I'm "dancing" to the music in my head.
Once again, thanks for such a great product. While I was shopping for
an intercom system, the only stipulation my wife had was, "Don't buy a
piece of junk like the other one we had on your last bike.". After our
first road trip, she commented, "Hey, this intercom actually WORKS !".

I just wanted to let you folks know that I am very pleased with the
performance of the Advance system I purchased from you. I have a 5 yr
old son who has cerebral palsy and is not able to do many of the things
that a typical 5 yr old can. He does, however, get to go on rides with

product has made riding more enjoyable and convenient for both of us by
making conversation so efficient while riding.
Thanks for the excellent technical support
in answering my questions during installation.

Hi ya,
Came in the other day to get a Bluetooth adaptor module for a starcom1
system I won on MCN last year. It arrived this morning and I fitted it
this afternoon. It was real easy to fit…2 minutes to pair up with the
phone and set the levels…and off I went. 10 minutes later and the
first phone call...a quick stop to reset the levels and away we go. I
have to say what a wonderful piece of kit…now I don’t miss calls can
have my Ipod on in the background and pillions can tell me when they
need the loo or a cup of tea. Don’t know how I got by without one…
next stop the radios to go bike to bike. Everyone should have one.

Just thought id drop you a quick note having read through your

Greetings from Roy and Daryl Carew,
Binningup, Western Australia
We are writing to congratulate you on a
great product.
My wife and I are the happy owners of your
Starcom 1 system, fitted to our 1995 Honda CBR1000F, HJC CS12 and Nolan
N61 full-face helmets.
The Starcom is a pleasure, I use it for
solo commuting to work and back and for two-up weekend trips in
combination with an iRiver T10. The radio stations, recorded music on
the iRiver and pillion to passenger speech are all crystal clear. I've
listened to everything from Bach to Hendrix and they all sound great
(subject to requiring sufficient volume to compensate for wind noise
through the helmet at higher speeds).
The VOX volume control and mute system
systems works brilliantly and as a bonus, can be tricked into turning up
the volume on favourite music tracks by opening up the helmet visor to
increase background wind noise into the mike (without overwhelming the
speakers).
We bought the system over the internet and
found it arrived promptly and contained everything I needed to install
it without any undue fuss, requiring only a bit of common sense and
attention to detail. It has increased the pleasure of riding by a
quantum leap, I would recommend one as a first accessory on any new
bike!

reasonable price. Regards Roy

Hello Tony at Tecstar!
I would like to report an extremely satisfying success with my Tecstar 1
unit purchased recently for a 2,000 mile trip on my BMW K1200LT. Also, I
have a marketing message that perhaps your company could use! It is a
great match with an IPod. The device functioned flawlessly, and I simply
plugged in the BMW adaptor to
a port on the cycle, and placed the unit in my tank bag. The
installation of the helmet speakers was easy, and the VOX adjustment was
equally simple.
The bonus point was that, with the enclosed music lead, I was able to
simply plug in my IPod to the Tecstar unit, and enjoy endless music.
This also enabled me to eliminate the bulky CD changer located in one of
the trunks of the BMW, so I could fit more luggage.
Your product is fabulous, and a bargain compared to the unit offered by
BMW or Behr.

We received the Starcom about 5 days ago and have been on three long
rides with it. We are currently using it as only an iPod interface and

Just wanted to let everyone know how
impressed I have been with the Starcom kit I bought.
The kit is installed into a Caterham 7,
with two way radio, and PTT switch. I have just got back from a 2000
mile blast through France which included 4 track days.
On the road I have been using the Peltor
practice headsets and on the track the helmet kits. The kit works
brilliantly, I run without a screen and could still hear my
passenger/other cars and mp3 player crystal clear.
To say I'm very impressed is an under
statement, the tech support from Tecstar has been second to none. I
would highly recommend this company and product.

After trying 2 other systems and not being really happy I tried your
StarCom intercom system. After 6 months now I am really happy with it.
We have travelled on a mega European trip of over 4000 miles and the
system works great, the best part is the automatic volume control up and
down we can talk normally at 30mph and the same at 80mph without having

I had to take the time to tell you guys/gals, I am
very impressed with my new Starcom1 unit. I am still tweaking volume/VOX
settings to perfection, but the sound quality from this unit is just
incredible. I have a Garmin 2610 GPS, Motorola Cell phone, and RIO MP3
player hooked into it. I originally had a problem with my CAB-35 cable
(GPS was nearly inaudible), but you promptly replaced that (thank you).
The new one works perfectly. It is true what I've heard, I got my first
cell phone call while clipping along at 70 MPH and the person I was
talking to had absolutely no idea I was on the bike. They told me that
they could not hear any wind noise at all. And I could hear them much
more clearly than expected. The automatic volume adjustment works
perfectly, not too loud when stopped, and not too low at speed. I
imagine that had to be a tough problem to solve, because that is such a
subjective thing. But I think you nailed it. .......
I hope you sell a zillion of these. I will be
bragging about you every chance I get.
Thanks!!! -John Gilmore
Dear Sir,
I am writing to say
how pleased I am with the intercom set-up I purchased from you earlier
this year. I installed it on my Harley Davidson Heritage and had no
problems at all following the instruction provided. Since fitting it my
wife and I have traveled from Kuwait down to Oman via Saudi Arabia, Abu
Dhabi and Dubai and back. We have also been across Saudi Arabia and into
Jordan and the intercom has performed faultlessly. The ability to mute
music when conversing is an advantage that I had not thought of and was
not available on other types of intercom, it works extremely well.

Hi Tony
I heard about the
StarCom unit via word of mouth. I was looking at an alternative make and
found the price to be extremely high once you source all the extras,
leads etc etc. Anyway, made the call to Alan and his team at Tecstar and
spoke to a very helpful lady on the phone. She was extremely
knowledgeable about the product and pretty much answered every question
I had at the time. Decided that I was going to be Mr Impatient and
actually drive to their offices and purchase two of the units, one for
me and one for a friend. Alan took time out to go through the whole unit
with me, so off I left with two of them in tow.
Fitting it to the
bike was a little tricky as I had to get it under the rear seat and for
any of you that have a 2005 – YZF-R1, you will know what I mean, however
I did manage to work a perfect solution that secures it perfectly to the
bike and still allows you to get the toolkit under the seat too.
Any, cut to the
performance of the unit. I have my iPod hooked up as well as my mobile
phone (Nokia 6310i) and the initial surprise was that the faster I went
the louder the music became. Awesome, totally Awesome. Now, the time
came when I was listening to one of my
favourite
Britney tracks and at one of my
favourite
circuits. Some would say that Britney would never sound good, but let me
tell you, she sound awesome at 152mph as I initiated the R1’s sub-light
engines down the straight. No joke, that speed and crystal clear music,
even though I have custom earplugs fitted into my ears. Clear as a
whistle. Phone calls at any speed are excellent audio quality also.
I am not one for
reading manuals, but let me assure you it is worth reading the manual
for the starcom, don’t wing it, follow the simple instructions and you
will be fine. I would be more than happy to recommend this unit to
anyone. It is totally awesome. The tech guys up there are also
exceptionally helpful with advice. This device is one of the first units
I have ever purchased that basically does exactly what is says on the
tin and performs above expectations”

Dear Sir.
I received my Starcom1 the next day
after placing my order. I must say that the performance when listening
to voice prompts from my Mio 269 sat nav is superb, ear plugs or no
ear plugs. The ability to preset the volume on the music channel
coupled with the auto volume feature make this a far better product
for sat nav than the Autocom system. Your advice on the phone was also
better than my experience with Autocom. So far I'm very impressed and
convinced that the Starcom1 is the best choice for my purposes.

Hi,
Not sure who I spoke to at your open day, but I was the one on the 'Wing
Trike. I said I would give some feedback with regard to your headsets,
so here it is. I fitted the headsets when I got home, as you may know I
previously had J & M's in the open face hats so this made it slightly
different for the fitting as it would have done for un modified hats,
but it was fine, no problems at all. I did hold the boom mike and the
lead to the helmet strap metal fitting with a couple of small zip ties,
just for peace of mind and it worked like a dream.
Two suggestions if I may, one, the connection lead supplied was too long
for the driver, it actually touches the paintwork, so I put an extra
loop in it (reducing the length by about 6 or 7 centimetres) and fixed
with another zip tie (where would we be without them ?), so you may like
to consider shortening the lead or put an extra couple of loops in the
same lead, that would do it. I'm a smidge under 6 foot by the way, so I
consider myself 'average' height for a 'Wing rider. Two, the ends of
the connection lead are metal, don't know if this would be affected by
rain or not, but maybe, but certainly the end that connects to the bike
could do with a rubber cover, similar to the J & M's because it's likely
to do some damage if it hits the paintwork, if dropped etc. just a
thought.
Now then, the audio quality. Superb, much, much better than the J &
M's, much clearer in the intercom and from the radio. The guy I spoke
to was telling me that one of the reasons your system should be better
for wind noise was because it's all inside of the helmet and it seems to
be spot on, much less wind noise and, as a bonus, I don't seem to have
as much alternator whine and all this is with open face hats.
So, very pleased thank you, I shall pass this report on to my friends
and anyone else that I know. I'm even considering buying another two
sets at some time for the full face hats and flogging the J & M's, how's
that for praise !

Details: Hi guys,
> Just wanted to say a very BIG thank you for providing a top quality
product! I've used several low grade rider to pillion units before and
have been very disappointed in performance and quality, but the Starcom
unit does exactly what it says on the box. Also, thanks for talking me
into getting the Kenwood UBZ-LJ8 - the whole system performed perfectly,
right out of the box after fitting. Used it on a two day run with 50
other riders this weekend and I can't rate it highly enough. Well done!

> Details: Hi,
> I purchased a pair of headsets for my 1999 goldwing from you last
year which included the new mobile phone connection port for my nokia
phone, I recall this was the first set with the new phone connection you
had supplied and wanted feed back! > Fantastic! the headsets are simple
to fit ,the quality of sound is great and the mobile phone connection
gives fantastic sound quality with ease of use, I have a Autocom system
on my Hyabusa which is as clear but the phone connection is not as
simple to use! As the Chairman of The Somerset Bike Rally and Motorcycle
Club I will be recommending your systems to all my members!

Tony,
Whilst using the web to look up your phone number to enquire about
progress of my order for additional cables I happened to look at the
testimonials and thought you may be interested in my comments. I am now
approaching a year of use of a Starcom 1 unit. Originally installed on a
Bandit and now a Triumph Sprint it has worked perfectly! I wear an
open-face helmet and have no trouble carrying on a conversation at speed
up to 100MPH, at that point the wind noise is such that I can't hear my
pillion, but he can still hear me in his full face helmet
perfectly.Using the phone is a dream. I don't think anyone has realised
that I am hacking up a motorway on a bike! Brilliant! A final point
which has proved very useful is the ability to fall back on a 9V
battery. When using loan bikes, or when test riding new ones, the
ability to pop the unit in a pocket with a battery and carry on using it
has been a Godsend, and all this as standard!

Well I must say well done once again, just got back from
Italy after doing 4700miles on my Bird with you system wired to a MP3,
Nokia Phone, and now road angel gps gatso finder. I can tell you now
that out of the 30 bikes that went, only 2 ran your system. All other
bikes ran Autocom. Why I am again taking the time to say well done to
your company as that at flat out speeds I could still hear my music and
hold a phone conversation, had to slow down for the phoned (155mph ish)
due to wind noise. "ALL" autocom units gave up the ghost at the 100-120
mark. Though you would like to know just how good your system really is.
Thanks again.

Dear Sirs:
I received my order for the StarCom 1. I have installed the unit and have
tested it out. I must say that you have under stated your unit. This is
the best communications system I have ever used. I am currently a Law
Enforcement Officer, (24 yrs.) employed by the Manatee County Sheriff's
Office in Florida. I hold the rank of Sgt., and use to be assigned to
the motorcycle squad. Even the head gear we used for communications was
not near as clear as what your unit is. Needless to say, I am very
impressed and very pleased with my purchase. Hooking up the unit was as
easy as advertised.

Dear Sir,
I recently restored a
1982 Goldwing GL 1100 Aspencade. The original audio/telecom system
needed to be replaced. After doing some research, I purchased your
Starcom system and installed it. Today, I got around to test driving my
Goldwing. The Starcom system works perfectly. Listening to the radio,
talking to the passenger and even receiving a phone call is pure luxury,
worthy of a Goldwing. The Starcom system is definitely top of the line
with a price ticket that can't be beaten. I also want to thank you for
your quick technical assistance to rewire my phone hook-up and to make
adjustments to be able to use my stereo. I can recommend the
Starcom system to anyone who wants it ALL.

"The
Starcom 1 is great! I am using a Valentine 1, wireless phone, two way radio
(both GMRS and CB) as well as the tunes from the my radio with no problems.
My wife can't believe the voice quality when she calls me to find out where I
am while out wandering on the back roads. I had one small problem with a bad
connector and the folks from Tecstar were fantastic - sent me a replacement
part and things worked like a champ. We have used Chatterbox, Autocom, and
the Commcenter for bike to bike and music over the last 5 years and the
Starcom 1 is the best by far - audio is great (with my ear plugs in), no
problems with ground loops or cross talk from two way radios or ignition noise
- it's a great product."
Thanks Phil

The chapter
has been investigating bike/bike and rider / passenger communications systems
for some months with a view to choosing a system that we could recommend to
all of our chapter members. We also needed a radio link for our road
captains and marshals for the ride outs that we conduct every month. After
testing a couple of systems we have settled on the Tecstar system and a Kenwood
PMR 446 radio (legal frequency and power output).
We currently have 2 sets in use though the intention is to buy
more. The main reason for choosing your equipment was that it did just what you
said it would and was easy to fit. I am also very impressed with the “after
Sales” service that I have received.
Six bikes from Bridgwater
Chapter took part in the Antwerp 500 mile run in October (24-26) and the ability
to communicate between the bikes ensured that we did not leave any rider behind
at lights or junctions etc with no idea as to what direction we had taken next.
We also used the mobile phone and were told that the other party did not realise
that the call was conducted from a motorcycle Travelling at speed in Belgium. In
total we covered over 1250 miles over the weekend and I know that others in our
club are going to order sets of equipment from you. Please feel free to use any
of the information contained in this email as a recommendation as to the quality
of the system and very good service that your company embraces.

Greetings from across the pond!
I have to tell you guys that I think the StarCom1 intercom is completely
amazing! I installed my StarCom1 in my Honda Pacific Coast on Friday before a
200-mile road trip. The trip went just swimmingly and the folks who called me
whilst I was on the road had no idea they were talking to me as I was zipping up
Florida's Turnpike at 75+ miles per hour on my motorcycle! I used to own a BMW
K1200LT, which had integrated into it a BMW ComSystem intercom (OEM-manufactured
by J&M). I have to tell you that your StarCom1 is every bit as good as good as
the BMW ComSystem, does everything the ComSystem can do, and is only one quarter
of the cost!
Cheers!

Just to let you know that the phone is working perfectly with the intercom. Was
chatting on it just above the national speed limit and the caller did
not even know I was on my bike.
Thanks for all of your help.

I just wanted to send a quick email to thank all at Tecstar
for the excellent service I have received from my first contact right through to
the completed set-up of my Starcom Motorcycle Helmet Communication System. The
staff have been incredibly helpful in making sure the product that they supply
has not only met the advertised specifications but has been tailored to fit my
needs perfectly, I now have a very neat installation of the Starcom that is
extremely easy to plug into, leaving me on the bike & ready to take phone calls
within seconds. It really is possible to hold a phone conversation without the
caller knowing you are on the bike, does take some getting used to though,
voices in the head! The only real disadvantage I have found with the unit is on
day trips when I
have the rider/pillion intercom connected, no more silence from the back! Sue is
able to talk to me very clearly at all speeds, comments on my riding skills,
directions I'm taking & of course speed are now readily available all the way to
our destination, we have tried to beat the unit but conversation has been easily
held from 0 - Silly. I chose the Starcom over a more expensive competitor
because of the infectious enthusiasm of the Tecstar staff for their product, it
really was a good decision for me.

Dear Tecstar
The system is perfect, user friendly and
it does exactly what it says on the box. Would I recommend it to other
motorcyclists??? Absolutely !!! not only for the quality of the product though
this alone is recommendation enough but for the fantastic after sales once again
thank you.

Hi,
I bought a Starcom1 system from yourselves
a few months ago, however I only recently started using the system on
2/8/03.Having entered The "Nick Sanders MOTOCHALLENGE" travelling the UK, my
girlfriend & I found the system to be fantastic as it made our journey most
entertaining. Rode once without the system on "boring". We both found the
Starcom1 system worked brilliantly at "all speeds (100+).We would just like to
congratulate you for supplying a fantastic intercom system at an affordable
price.
Many Thanks

My biker pal Mike, and I, purchased Two way
radios and head sets for a tour around the highlands of Scotland, I then wanted
to go one step further and add music to the set up to have some entertainment
and keep up with, travel and news in general. I expressed an interest in the
Starcom 1 that Tecstar had developed and they sent me details, the Starcom was
the answer it allows two way radio input, music input and with the addition of a
second head set, my pillion can enjoy the music and we can talk with absolute
clarity to one another, throughout the full speed range of my ST1100, and if you
wish you can set the VOX to cut out the music whilst in conversation, the next
item I shall be ordering from them will be the input for my mobile phone. My
real reason for writing is to congratulate Tecstar on the product but perhaps
more importantly the Customer service and attention to detail that the company
afforded me, in particular Mr Allan Jones, he was very helpful and the speed of
turn around from order to delivery in my last experience was amazing (Item
posted on Tuesday night returned Thursday).
So thank you Tecstar, and for any one considering bike communications give
Tecstar a call (01480 399499) you will not be disappointed.

We went to the BMF Tail End Show last
weekend and as usual the weather was perfect.
Whilst there I purchased an intercom from StarCom.
The StarCom 1 rider to passenger kit we bought has really surprised us both with
the clarity of communication it provides. Even at 'excessive' speeds a normal
conversation is possible. This kit is excellent.
Connect the power wire to the bike's auxiliary wire, the other power wire to an
earth. Plug in the headsets, audio lead and phone lead and it's done. The unit
sits nicely under the seat above 'a box' near the rear light cluster. Held in
place with the strap that holds 'the box' in place. Little velcro pads that come
in the kit, stop it sliding about and prevent it rubbing anything. Ten minutes
and it's ready to go, ten more minutes to fit the headsets into our helmets and
we were on the drive setting the volume and VOX sensitivity. Getting the
headphones in the correct place was a bit of trial and error, but once the place
was sorted more velcro stops them moving.
The phone lead was an extra to the standard kit and I thought it was a bit
short. It was too short to reach my phone when it was in my pocket or in
Katrine's, so I emailed the company and asked for a longer one. I had a
replacement lead through my letter box the next morning (FOC)!
Excellent product, excellent service. Now all I've got to get used to is talking
and riding at the same time. Doing two things at once is not something I've
mastered yet!

Next Weekend (23-26) I will have the
pleasure of doing a demo of your Starcom1 system for about 150 BMW riders. We
have an annual get together in Death Valley, California of the Internet BMW
Riders. I'm sure I can generate some interest in your system. I have never had
a system that integrates all the functions as well as your system. The audio
quality is Superb for a helmet speaker-type of headset. You are welcome to
publish any of my comments. I brag about this system to everyone.
Thanks,
